“Me” by Jacqueline Parker

Stupid. Confusing. Pointless. Painful.

Stupid, like the rubber ducky that can’t float.

Confusing, like the colors of the rainbow.

Pointless, like the broken pencil covered in a coat.

Painful, like a newly broken heart.

What can one do to see the world anew?

How can one word break you apart?

I know I need to bid you adieu.

But what if you’re everything I need?

The food, shelter, and clothing of my life

This is no exaggeration indeed

Because one day, I hope to be your wife.

Stupid? Confusing? Pointless? Painful? Me?

I know it’s the truth, it’s just hard to see.
